I was elected Chancery Clerk of Pontotoc County in November, 1986, in a special election. I was elected on Tuesday, and about 9:00 a.m. the next morning I was sworn in. Representing the people of Pontotoc County, or any other county in any elected position, is, and should be, an awesome and often overwhelming responsibility, filled with many challenges. I love being Chancery Clerk, trying to do what's best for Pontotoc County and all our citizens.

Pontotoc is a wonderful and special place. It is where I was born and have lived my entire life. I married Faye Gregory in 1967. We have two children. Regina Ferguson is the Director of Nursing at the North Mississippi Regional Center in Oxford. Greg is Assistant Manager at Jackson Implement Company in Pontotoc, and he is not married. Gina is married to Larry Ferguson, who is a fireman for the city of Tupelo. They have twins, Katelyn and Kolten Ferguson; so you can readily see that these two grandchildren can get away with anything with their Pop-Paw.

Since being elected I have seen the payroll and accounting for the county become completely computerized. Along with moving into the 21st Century, we also began imaging our land records (Deeds, Deeds of Trust, Power of Attorneys, etc.) in February, 2000. We are currently working toward backing all old land records into the computer to store, preserve, and maintain these records for future generations and to make these records available and accessible via the Internet.

The five ladies pictured with me on our home page are special people to me and are the heart and soul of this office. They handle the many customers and problems that pass through this office daily in a dignified and professional manner. I, like most Chancery Clerks, often fail to pat my Deputy Clerks on the back and give them the praise they deserve.

I live in the country in the Randolph Community, where Faye and I both finished high school. I have a few beef cattle and like to work in the yard and garden. In my spare time I like to play golf and do a little woodworking.

There is a page on this Web site referred to as "Ask Reggie". Please contact me with your questions and/or comments, and I will do my best to respond.
